I am sure that in English classes this week everyone has been revising language like ‘blackout’, ‘power cut’ and ‘power outage’. Power failures, like the massive one in the Iberian Peninsular on Monday, remind us of what it is like to live in the dark. In the dark in terms of dashing out to buy candles as night approaches, but also of being unable to communicate with loved ones or even to find out what is going on in the wider world. Fortunately, we reached the light at the end of this dark tunnel in a matter of hours rather than days.
