My daughter’s favourite poem in English is The Owl and The Pussycatby Edward Lear which she is proud to now be able to recite by heart! This is an example of nonsense poetry, where nothing really makes sense, which is why children like it of course 🙂 However, rhyming poetry is a great way to learn language, particularly pronunciation in English where rhyming words often do not look alike. So, I have tried my hand at writing a poem which I invite you to complete by clicking on the image below. And if you’re feeling really brave you could try reading another nonsense poem, The Jabberwocky, where half of the words are actually made up by the poet!
