What can we know about a word?

The more you know about a word the more likely you are to be able to use it correctly; this much is obvious! However, knowing more about a word also helps you to remember it in the future as it creates more connections in your brain about the word and how it relates to the rest of the language

So, what can we know about a word?

Drag the types of annotation to the corresponding examples given for the word ‘blunt’ to learn how we can analyse a word and its usage

It isn’t necessary to use all of these annotations for each word, just one or two will help, and you don’t necessarily have to write them down (although it’s better if you do). If you just remember a word in connection to an example phrase and its antonym, for example, the act of creating those associations will give the language item cognitive depth in your brain and help you to recall it in the future
