How peculiar!

For my birthday last week my wife and daughter treated me to a surprise. And I really was surprised because it was an English-style afternoon tea in the centre of Madrid! It was fantastic, with scones and cream and jam, cucumber sandwiches and little slices of cake, all presented on a three-layer plate tower with silver teapots, milk jugs and all the paraphenalia. As I was enjoying it I thought ‘what a peculiar thing this is!’ with its strange rituals and insistence on everything being ‘just so’. This led me to thinking about other British idiosyncracies and to putting together a quick quiz for you to see how much you know about British oddities.
