Candy Day!

 

The origin of candy can be traced to the ancient Egyptians who combined fruits and nuts with honey. This method preserved the flowers and nuts, creating a form of candy.

During the middle ages, candy was very expensive, so only rich people could afford it. Then in the 18th century sugar became more available, so the prices of candy dropped and the candy business underwent a drastic change and the candy store became a staple of the child of the English and American working class, penny candies became the first thing a child would spend their money on.

So, maybe today is the day to be a child again and eat some of your favourite candies: candy bars, taffies, marshmallows, licorice, gumdrops…so many to choose from!
